Del Mar Thoroughbred Club’s 85th Summer Racing Season Kicks Off July 20

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is set for its 85th summer racing season at the iconic seaside track. The 2024 season, featuring some of the nation's highest prize money and an exciting lineup of trackside events, begins on Saturday, July 20, with Opening Day presented by Caesars Sportsbook. This year, for the first time since the 1950s, Opening Day will be held on a Saturday due to the San Diego County Fair schedule.

Opening Weekend events include the Opening Day Hats Contest, an Opening Day Party, and the Del Mar Beer Fest on Sunday, July 21. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m. PST, with limited General Admission for an elevated experience.

The season runs through Sunday, September 8, offering nearly every weekend filled with trackside events such as:

  • July 21: Del Mar Beer Fest – Sampling brews, ciders, and seltzers.
  • August 3: Uncorked Del Mar Wine Fest – Featuring over 150 wines and gourmet food.
  • August 10: Tacos & Tequila – Tequila, margaritas, and tacos.
  • August 17: Breeders' Cup Tumbler Giveaway – Free collectible item with admission.
  • August 24: Taste of New Orleans – New Orleans-inspired food and music.
  • September 1: Family Fun Day – Kid-friendly games and attractions.
  • September 7: College Day – Free admission for students with valid ID.

Weekly attractions include:

  • Diamond Club Free & Easy Thursdays: Free admission and specials for Diamond Club members.
  • Turf Club Fridays: High-end happy hour in the exclusive Turf Club.
  • Happy Hour Fridays: Half-off signature drinks.
  • Taste of the Turf Club (Sundays): Brunch and bottomless beverages in the Turf Club.

The season's highlight, the FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic, will be held on Saturday, August 31, a "win-and-you're-in" race for the Breeders' Cup Classic.
